Soccer Girl!

Kathryn did sooo well at her soccer game last week. She has been playing for two years now, and she is definitely not an aggressive player. She enjoys playing with her hair, watching for all the kids she can find from her school, and keeping track of the score. She has scored two goals this season, but one was definitely a fluke.

This week, she was ON FIRE! She was all over the field. She ran right to the ball every time. She took the ball away from people, and she even took the ball once and took it down the field for a great goal!

In addition, she had two other assists on goal, including one perfect throw in! It was a very proud moment. Suddenly it seemed like all of her coaching and soccer camp clicked! It was fun to watch. I think she enjoyed having my sister there watching her, but it was truly amazing to see the transformation!

She scored two goals on her own. (She says four!) She counts her assists as goals--a true team player!

Too bad she only has one game left!

The Pumpkin Patch

We headed to the pumpkin patch this weekend on a beautiful day! My mom and sister joined us for the fall fun!

Tim's favorite event was the pumpkin cannon, and he picked the biggest pumpkin that could fit in the cannon. It was amazing to see how far that thing shot!

We took a hay ride to the patch, where the pumpkins were remarkably picked over. Tom and Kathryn settled on the perfect round one, while Kaelyn grabbed her "funny looking guy!" It actually carved in to a cute little pumpkin (upside down! More pics. coming later!)

The sweater Kaelyn is wearing my Aunt bought for Kathryn when she was two! We've had four good years of sweater wearing around here! I guess it will retire after this year...how sad!

Kaelyn's favorite thing to do was find all of the rotten pumkins and smash them! It cracked me up because she would seek them out from afar, run over and stomp!

It was a great day on the farm! I actually was there too, but those pics. are on my sister's camera!

Who Should We Vote For?

We were watching the Presidential debates last week, and Kathryn showed a vague interest in it. I tried to explain that one of these two men would be the next President. (I'm pretty sure that she doesn't even know the current President. Most of my students every year say that it's George Washington.)

So...she says, "Mom, you should vote for that guy!"
When I asked her why, she said, "Because he has the coolest tie!"

Apparently, Kathryn's vote is for John McCain...due to the dapper black tie I guess! She was unimpressed with Obama's red tie apparently!

Well...I guess ties could be one way to pick a President.

MMMMM! Chlorine!

Kahtryn came home from school the other day so excited to tell me about how wonderful the smell was at school today! Oh mom! Jackson smelled SOOOOOOOOO good today! He had chlorine and it smelled sooooooo good! My teacher said she could smell it all the way at the front of the class! We did some searching and found out that it was Jackson who smelled so good!

Oh, mom, is it called chlorine?

No honey. I'm pretty sure you mean cologne!

We had a good laugh about that one! Apparently she LOVES the smell of Jackson's cologne!

Yes, it's a snake!

My kids love to go to Carter and Avery's house. It's a great place to be a kid! They have a huge playset, their mom lets them play in the hose even if it's fifty degrees out and they have pigs!

Well...a few weeks ago we were there and a snake was caught! I can't stand snakes! (I will admit I'm can tolerate them more than rodents, but I don't like them!) Kathryn braved it and actually held it for a minute. Kaelyn, (who is proving to have many of the same fears as me,) wouldn't touch it! She would look at it, but wanted nothing to do with it!

Fun times...I think!

Paper Kathryn

Tim went to curriculum night last week. I was there too, but I had to work:(. So...he got to visit her classroom and meet her teacher etc. ( I have to miss out on these things, and that is one downfall of being in the same school as my child. Most other things are great, but that is one drawback.) Her teacher had a class full of kids to greet the parents. I thought it was pretty cute!

In the Backyard

Last week when we got home from soccer, Kaelyn looked out the window and said, There's a deer!
Here is what we saw....

There were four deer. The mama was definitely on look out and then there were three babies in the tall grass behind. Pretty neat! They stayed for a long time.
We had fun watching them. NO, Tim did not get his bow! I think deer are pretty fun to watch.

This is what I saw when I got out of the shower today!

It says:
Mom and dad
I so a nal.
Love Kathryn

In the center is a screw: aka Nail!

I had to laugh! She apparently decided it would be too much work to just tell me she found it, so she wrote the note and left it next to my sink! When I asked her where she found it she said,
In my room. I stepped on it!
Ouch!
What a silly kid!
