Christmas!

We went to church at the Catholic church this year since our services were cancelled due to snow. We then went to Stacie and Jeff's to celebrate Christmas Eve. The girls had a blast with Audrey and Kathryn Loved the puppy Lucy!

Christmas morning we spent at our house, and then headed to my mom's house. The girls were excited to open their new Biscuit dog from Papa and Tonie, and kissed the box! They were also excited about the new games for the DS and Vsmile.

The girls performed a nativity scene for us before we opened presents! Kathryn was Joseph, Kaelyn was Mary and Saylor was a cow. They sang songs and Kathryn read the story. It was really special!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you enjoy the holiday, and spend time reflecting on the ultimate gift ever given! The gift of a baby boy to a world in need of a savior!

Merry Christmas! May you be blessed this year in a very special way!

Lefse

I spent the day making lefse yesterday. It is quite a process, and I do like it. It's a very reflective process for me. It's one of the things that truly ties me to my Norweigian heritage and I like that. I think about all of my family members who have spent time making the same lefse that I make. My dad taught me to make it (via the phone), My granmda taught him to make it, her mother taught her, and her mother taught her. I imagine what it was like making lefse without the conveniences of today. I imagine the lefse being kept for lutefisk, and stored in the attic all year.

When I first started making it four years ago, I would call my grandma for advice on how to get it just right. I still don't have it perfected yet, but I feel like this year I did the best job of rolling it out.

The recipe needs 10 cups of flour! My entire kitchen, (and Me!) is covered in flour by the end of the process.

I found it kind of funny that I was talking to my friend on speaker phone while I was making it yesterday, it defintiley evolved the nostalgia a bit!

Lefse making is done for the year!

Hot (And Cold!) Tubbin!

My kids had a chance to take me on a blast from the past last night! Our friends invited them over to go hot tubbin!

I had told Kathryn about how my dad loved to go in the hot tub, then get out and roll in the snow! She thought that sounded like a blast, and asked if we could get a hot tub.

Last night, they got to go in a hot tub, and they took the opportunity to roll in the snow. Kathry LOVED it! Kaelyn wasn't sure at first, but eventually got into it.

Taryn was hilarious. She would lay in the snow and pose until I would take a picture.

It took me back to fond memories from my childhood, but I have to admit, I really wasn't interested in doing it!

SNOWED IN AND GETTING SICK OF IT!

We've had snow for the past 9 days!!! UGH! That means I haven't driven since before then. It is beautiful! I do have to admit it! But I am tired of it!

Santa!

We made it to Santa today! The girls brought there written list, which was new for us this year...although it's been funny because their lists change ever time. The only consistent thing on Kathryn's list has been a REAL dog...no tricking her with a pretend one!

A New Custom

Last year we started a new tradition in our house, and this year we added to it...

After the tree is decoarted, we read the Christmas story, and then the girls sleep under the tree. This year, I gave them their new Christmas jammies, and they were THRILLED!

It's become a fun tradition!

Decorating the Home Depot tree

After we got the tree up, the girls were so excited to decorate...for about 20 minutes! We stuck with it, and got it decorated. It turned out pretty.
